The Aasee is transformed into a Fellini-esque scene: cars drive on the water, street lamps grow out of the waves – and more and more bizarre figures
gather in one of the parades for which Handel wrote his water music. A dream play that culminates in a fiery spectacle.
Water is the element of the southern French company Ilotopie. From the lake to the river, from the quayside to the beach. The artists draw their exuberantly imaginative images from water; it is their reservoir for surreal dances and mythical plays that transcend the limits of reason. This is particularly true of FOUS DE BASSIN (Water Fools), a production that has already delighted thousands of spectators all over the world.
„If Lewis Carroll had applied his absurd vision to street art and teamed up with Salvador Dali and Hieronymus Bosch,“ wrote Britain’s The Guardian
after a performance in London, „the result might have been FOUS DE BASSIN, a strange, dreamy, floating spectacle by the French company Ilotopie that literally walks on water. It is a beautiful vision of hell.“
